What We Ask of You
The Tukga Hut was built by volunteers and funded by our community. As you can imagine, building, maintaining, and managing a building at 3200’ in SE Alaska is not easy, especially without the support of everyone involved. Throughout your stay, please respect the guidelines put in place to ensure the Hut remains clean, safe, and operational indefinitely. Our reservation prices are based on our operating costs, so please be honest about the number of people you have staying at the hut.
Getting There
Parking for the Tukga Hut is at the 7-Mile Saddle Trailhead (also labeled the Ripinski Trailhead on roadsigns). Google Maps , Apple maps , Coordinates: 59.26630, -135.60523
From the parking lot, the Hut is a 2.3-mile and 3,200ft elevation gain hike. The trail is steep and strenuous, please make sure everyone in the group understands this and is thoroughly prepared. Review our “Trip Planning” page for more information on summer vs winter travel to the hut.
Booking and Cancellation Policy
We are trying to balance long-term booking, which is usually done by visitors and booked up quickly, with enabling community members to use the hut on short notice. We also have certain booking advantages associated with our membership levels, to encourage donations and support of our organization, so that we’re able to maintain the hut and fund other projects in the future. These factors lead to our booking system being a little more complicated than most, so please bear with us.
Visit our membership page to learn about Tukga Hut discounts and booking advantages for our supporters.
